Michlene grew up in Dayton, Ohio where she developed a love for health and exercise at an early age. She started horseback riding and formal ballet training at 4 years old and continued throughout college until she moved to New York City to work in the fashion industry. She was able to keep moving by taking yoga and pilates classes, but did not feel the love and passion from her early years until she moved to Charlotte in 2006 and took her first Hilliard Studio Method class. She was instantly hooked and loved the athletic intensity coupled with the ballet-based barre, core and posture work.
Michlene and her husband Stephen are aware of the value of a healthy lifestyle for their son Cam. “I’m thrilled that I can be an example of a working mother to my son and be strong and healthy for him,” she says. “At first I was nervous about going through teacher training, but I quickly began to feel healthier and stronger than I ever have! I want each client who comes to my class to feel supported in their transformation and motivated during our rigorous workout with the intent to leave after each class feeling more powerful than they did when they came in.”
At the studio, Michlene is passionate about promoting inner strength and having fun with her positive energy. When she is not training, Michlene serves as an Executive Director for Strategic Partnerships for an Educational Company. “I am incredibly passionate about education and the education of our youth along with philanthropy both in the Charlotte community and worldwide.”
